1 HUNDRED is a documentary of the human spirit and one of the most extreme races on the planet. While the world may follow the New York and Boston Marathons, a small community of ordinary people who love to run, take on a more daunting task. Imagine running over 3 ½ New York marathons in one 30 hour period. Not to mention running at a starting elevation of 9,200 ft. and topping off at a towering 12,620 ft. That’s an elevation change of running the height of more than 2 ½ Empire State Buildings to put it in perspective. Breathing at those elevations has been compared to exercising and breathing through a straw. Welcome to the world of Ultra Marathon racing in Leadville, Colorado. Each year hundreds of participants flock to the small town, to put their bodies through the unthinkable as they try to complete the 100 mile trek in less than 30 hours.
The documentary will follow 4 ordinary people on their journey leading up to and ultimately tackling this daunting race. Within the time spent with these runners, we hope to capture the essence of the human spirit that would propel someone to take on such an extraordinary task. Our goal with this documentary is to inspire and lift the preconceptions of what a human can accomplish with a lot of heart and perseverance.
